South Mandarin Bilingual Program Expression of Interest

Status | Ongoing

The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is exploring an expansion of the South Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Program for eligible students in Grades 5-7. See the Mandarin Bilingual Program attendance area map.

For the program to proceed for 2017-18, a minimum of 40 students in Grade 5, 40 students in Grade 6 and 20 students in Grade 7 must be registered in the program before March 31, 2017. Any students interested in registering in the program for the 2017-18 school year who are not currently registered in a CBE Mandarin Bilingual Program were asked to book a proficiency assessment by Feb. 24, 2017.

The results of our online survey (open Jan. 30 – Feb. 24) have been shared with the decision-makers. See the survey report and comments

An information session was also held Feb. 8, 2017 at Harold Panabaker School.

The final decision will be communicated in April 2017 and will be based on confirmed registrations received before March 31, 2017.
