AHS Outbreak Notifications

Sep. 01, 2021

If AHS declares an outbreak due to any illness during the 2021-22 school year it will be noted on this page.

When more than 10 per cent of the school population is absent, or a higher than expected rate of illness is observed in a school community, AHS Public Health is notified. This triggers an investigation and a possible outbreak declaration, depending on the results of the investigation. In the event of an outbreak, families will receive notification by letter from AHS, distributed by the school.

Families who receive this letter should review the information carefully. Please monitor your children for signs of illness and keep them home from school if they are sick, and call AHS at 811 with any questions.

AHS determines the length of the outbreak period. This list only reflects when the outbreak is declared.

For more information, please refer to the Alberta government's Guidance for Respiratory Illness Prevention and Management in Schools.
