Flags at CBE Schools and Buildings
According to AR 1029 Operation of Schools and AR 3074 Flag and Anthem, the national flag of Canada must be flown from the flagpole of all schools every school day.
Flags may be flown at half mast to recognize significant events and occasions at the direction of the Chief Superintendent of Schools or a delegate. The Chief Superintendent’s Office will receive direction on lowering flags through Alberta Education & Childcare at the direction of the Prime Minister’s office through Canadian Heritage, or the Premier’s office through the Alberta Protocol Office.

Sept. 30

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation* – the day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Nov. 11
|
Remembrance Day* – to mark and honour the memory of all Canadians who have served their country in time of war.
Note | 2025 Flags will be half-masted at CBE schools the end of the day on Fri, Nov. 8 and restored on the morning of Tues, Nov. 12.
