If You Could Talk to the Minister of Education, What Would You Say?
Minister of Education Adriana LaGrange is looking for about 40 junior and senior high school students from across Alberta between the ages of 14-19 to join the 2023-24 Minister’s Youth Council.
Deadline for applications is March 24, 2023.
Modernization and New School Funding Announced for CBE
Last week, the Government of Alberta announced full, planning or pre-planning funding for all of the Year One and two of the Year Two priorities identified on the CBE’s 2023-26 Three-Year School Capital Plan.

CBE Schools Collect 45,835 Pounds of Food for the Mayor’s Food Drive
The results are in, and the CBE collectively raised $11,264.92 and brought in 45,835 pounds of food for the annual Mayor’s Holiday Food Drive. This helps the Calgary Food Bank continue to feed those in our community facing food insecurity.

Educational Provincial Satisfaction Surveys Underway
Phone surveys began in January and will finish by the end of March. These surveys are conducted each year to gauge whether the education system continues to meet the needs of people in Alberta. An external consultant is administering these surveys by phone on behalf of Alberta Education

The next COSC meeting has been rescheduled from Wednesday, March 22 to:

Please make this adjustment in your calendars. A meeting invite will be sent to school councils in mid-March.
ASCA Calendar of Events
The ASCA website offers a calendar of events including a variety of participation opportunities for school council members and/or parents. These include:
- Workshops for school councils
- Online sessions for parents regarding various health and educational issues
- Event information for “special dates”.
