​​​​​​During the municipal general election, Calgarians vote for their school board trustees, city councilors and mayor. A general election takes place every four years as legislated under the Local Authorities Election Act. The Board of Trustees of The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is charged with the responsibility to govern the affairs of the CBE under the Education Act, and advocates for students to ensure education is given high priority.
