Do you know a student who wants to learn Math and Science in a hands-on way? The Career and Technology Centre at Central Memorial High School is proud to announce a new education partnership with APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) and its 70,000 members. Starting in September, a limited number of students entering Grade 10 will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in hands-on, STEM-based education for an entire semester with support from APEGA members.
Attend an information night on Tuesday, May 14 at 6 p.m. at the Career and Technology Centre, 2336 - 53 Ave. S.W.
From September to January, a group of Grade 10 students chosen for the program will be able to earn the following:
- Math 10
- Science 10
- Design Thinking credits
- Natural Resource CTS credits
- Geology LDC credits
- …and more!
This is an exceptional opportunity like no other offered in the province. Students will have the benefit of having a teacher navigate them through this learning plus APEGA members who will open their doors and their minds for the students to access. Rigorous experiential learning will take place both inside the classroom at the Career and Technology Centre/Central Memorial High School as well as across the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta. Students will be covering the same curriculum points of these core classes in order to prepare them for higher grades, just in a more experiential way with the help from professionals and at no cost to students.
