CALGARY – The Board of Trustees has approved a collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40.
The agreement has a two-year term, expiring Aug. 31, 2017. It is retroactive to September 2015.
For the first year of the contract there will be no wage increase. The second year of the contract may be open to further wage and compensation negotiation.
There are approximately 675 employees at the CBE covered by the CUPE agreement.
“We are happy to come to a fair agreement with our CUPE employees,” said Board of Trustees Chair Joy Bowen-Eyre. “The tough economic climate continues to challenge us and we are glad to have the support of these employees, who hold essential roles in our system.”
Other changes to the agreement include the addition of two personal leave days to match that of other employee groups in the CBE.
CUPE members perform various types of jobs within the CBE, including roles such as facility operator, cleaner, mechanic and more.
