CALGARY — The Board of Trustees has approved a collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40.
The agreement has a three-year term, expiring Aug. 31, 2020. It is retroactive to Sept. 1, 2017.
The agreement provides for zero per cent wage increases for 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. It also provides for a wage reopener for 2019/2020.
CUPE members perform various types of jobs within the CBE, including roles such as facility operator, cleaner, mechanic and more. There are over 700 employees at the CBE covered by the CUPE agreement.
“Our CUPE members are valued members of our staff who provide essential services to the CBE,” said Board of Trustees chair Trina Hurdman. “We are pleased to come to an agreement that is respectful to both employees and the Board’s current budget realities.”
Other changes to the previous agreement include changes to maternity and parental leave of absence, extended disability cost sharing, technological change notification, and others.
