Grade 7-9 Students at Bob Edwards School Make Bannock – Virtually!

Teachers and students at Bob Edwards School spent some quality time re-connecting virtually to make some Bannock! They used a traditional Indigenous recipe shared with them by Michelle Ranger, a system principal with the CBE. Students in Grade 6, 7 and 9 were able to collaborate and create their own Bannock with their Indigenous Studies teachers, Madame Stunell and Madame Gillespie. They learnt the history of the bread, how it was introduced to Turtle Island as well as how the Indigenous Peoples have adapted the recipe over the years. It was an incredible way for students to learn, bake, appreciate, and love on the traditional territory of Treaty 7, and the Métis Nation, Region 3, in Southern Alberta!
