The Highwood School Chinese Bilingual program ushered in the Year of the Pig at the Jubilee Auditorium Jan. 15.
An audience of about 1,000 Highwood family and friends gathered to not only celebrate the Lunar New Year, but to also explore the theme of Chinese inventions.
Students in Kindergarten to Grade 4 performed pieces in English and Mandarin, that revolved around kites, wheelbarrows, silk, parasols, compasses and bamboo steamers.
The evening concluded with a grand finale performance where the entire staff and students of Highwood School filled the stage and aisles with a New Year’s song and dance.
