The 2025-26 Instructional calendar has been finalized and posted.
The first day of school for students is:
Feedback regarding students starting prior to September long weekend was taken into consideration for the 2025-26 school year. In years where labour day falls later into September, such as it does for 2026 (Sep. 7) starting after the long weekend may not be possible; instructional calendars take into consideration Fall break, the timing of January diploma exams set by Alberta Education, and the balance of instructional days between semesters.
Guidelines used to inform the creation of instructional calendars are based on current legislation, provincial examinations and feedback. The calendars include a minimum of 181 instructional days and 10 system-wide days for schools to schedule parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and other organizational days.
A tentative calendar for 2026-27 has also been posted and is subject to change.
