Staples Canada has a corporate vision that strives to improve the quality of life in Canadian communities by continuously investing in the communities where their customers and associates live and work. This corporate vison is very evident in the City of Calgary and especially in the Calgary Board of Education. The Calgary Board of Education is very proud of our partnership with Staples Canada and would like to congratulate them on their September 2016 CBE Lighthouse Award.
Through their support, Staples Canada has helped the CBE focus on success for every student.
This is evident through Staples Canada Annual School Supply Drive which connects students in need with the tools that they need both at school and at home. This fall Staples donated over 1675 backpacks and raised over $97,000 in donations for this year’s program. With these backpacks and basic school supplies, students come to school better prepared to learn and feel part of the learning community.
Staples Canada has also stepped up in times of need. This past spring when the CBE welcomed new students due to the wildfires in Northern Alberta and new refugees to our city, students were given the supplies they needed to start or continue their learning all within 24 hours.
The partnership between the Calgary Board of Education and Staples Canada is an exemplary model of how a national corporation can partner with a local school board for the common cause of supporting student success. Congratulations Staples and thank you for your continued support.
