Aug. 04, 2022
We are excited to welcome all students back for another school year. Whether your child is just starting kindergarten, joining us from another school division, or going into their last year of school, we welcome you to the Calgary Board of Education. The 2022-23 school year is full of exciting opportunities ahead.
Our goal is for each student to be successful and learn to their full potential. We want students to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation before each day begins and to be active and engaged in their learning.
As the new school year approaches, we have listed some ways you can prepare before the school year begins. You can also expect to receive detailed information from your child’s school before classes begin.
Important Dates
- Modified calendar schools’ offices open on Wednesday, Aug. 10, and the first day of classes is Monday, Aug. 15.
- Traditional calendar schools’ offices open on Monday, Aug. 29, and the first day of classes is Thursday, Sept. 1.

MyCBE Account
A
MyCBE Account is an important tool for accessing all of your child’s information. Parents/ Legal Guardians/ Independent Students who have not already done so must
create a MyCBE account and add student(s) to the account to:
- access your child’s program information (e.g., course assessments, daily attendance record, report card)
- view your child’s learning using Brightspace by D2L
- pay fees and request waivers
- register for transportation and lunch supervision
- book parent-teacher conferences
- submit online school forms (required for the 2022-23 school year)
You will need your email address on file at the school, as well as the student’s CBE ID. This can be found on:
- SchoolEngage student profile for families that registered their child using SchoolEngage.
Note | For a visual guide on how to find the CBE ID within SchoolEngage, refer to
SchoolEnage CBE Student ID - CBE Report Card, beside the child's name
- CBE ID card
See our
support page for instructions on signing up for a MyCBE account or accessing an existing account.
Your MyCBE account is used as long as your child remains at CBE from kindergarten to Grade 12, so please register with an email that will be active during this period.
MyCBE
School Transportation
Your school bus stop and the route will be posted in MyCBE by mid-August. CBE Transportation continues to accept registration after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Due to volume, processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year. Families are responsible for transportation until their registration is confirmed.
Lunch Supervision
Registration for lunch supervision will open on Monday, Aug. 15, in MyCBE. All students in Grades 1- 6 and full-day kindergarten programs staying at school during the daily lunch break must be registered and pay the annual fee (various payment options available).
Health Measures for 2022-23
The CBE takes the health and safety of our students and staff seriously. We continue to encourage general health measures for all students and staff to reduce the risk of transmission of all illnesses; these include such things as staying home when sick and practicing good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. We will also be maintaining high touchpoint cleaning as a standard practice across all schools. Students and staff can continue to make their own decisions regarding masking. The CBE upgraded to MERV 13 filters in schools wherever possible. In addition, all schools are mechanically ventilated and systems are set to maximize air exchange.
We will continue to monitor student and staff absences this school year. It may still be necessary to transition individual classes or grades to at-home learning as required due to operational challenges. Families will be notified by their school in the event their child's class is impacted.
We continue to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. As we begin the 2022-23 school year, there are no current COVID-19 public health measures in place that impact CBE schools. If new measures are announced, they will be communicated with families and staff before they are implemented in our schools.
