Update | Grade 7-12 move to at-home learning starting Monday, April 19

Dear Parents/Guardians

With cases of COVD-19 increasing in our schools, and the number of students and staff required to quarantine rising, Alberta Education has approved a request from the Calgary Board of Education to move Grade 7-12 students to at-home learning.

  • Starting Monday, April 19 students in Grades 7-12 will transition to at-home learning for at least two weeks. At this time, in-person classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, May 3 but this could be extended. Learning expectations will be the same as they were when these students moved online before and after the winter break.
  • There will be no change for kindergarten to Grade 6 students. These students will continue to attend classes in-person at their schools.
  • The families of students in specialized classes or who require specialized supports will be contacted by their school principal to determine if their classes will be moved online or if they will continue in-person.
  • There are no changes for students in CBE’s Hub online learning or CBe-learn

More information will be provided by individual schools regarding lending technology and other learning supports during this time.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make this learning shift for next week. While it is yet another significant change, we hope that it will serve to reduce the current learning disruptions that are continuing to occur in our schools.

Sincerely,

Christopher Usih
