Yellow school bus transportation reminders for 2015-16

Jun. 24, 2015

Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their registration for yellow school bus transportation for the 2015-16 school year.

Registrations due June 25

We need completed registrations by June 25 in order that Transportation Services can begin planning for bus routes for September.

The easiest way to register is online through your My CBE Account. You can access your account from our website www.cbe.ab.ca/fees. If you haven’t already created an account you can easily sign-up using the same email address the school has on file for your family.

If you are unable to register online, paper forms can be found on the CBE website www.cbe.ab.ca/forms or at your child(ren)’s school.

We continue to accept registration for yellow school bus service throughout the summer, though we cannot guarantee transportation for September 1 for any students registered after the June 25 deadline.

New fees for 2015-16

The CBE Board of Trustees has passed the 2015-16 CBE Operating Budget and fees for the next school year have now been finalized. We are pleased to inform you that transportation fees will be reduced by $30 to $300 for all students taking yellow school bus to school.

Payments are due in September. If you have already paid or submitted a cheque based on the previous fee, the CBE will be issuing refunds in the fall. More details will be communicated in September.

Parents may also choose to submit a new cheque for the final fee amount. All cheques must include the student’s name and CBE ID number.

If you do submit a new cheque, please notify the Student Fee helpline at 403-817-7888 or email StudentFees@cbe.ab.ca. The previous cheque will be voided and can either be destroyed or returned to you.

New GPS Technology to be Introduced in September

One of the things we heard from the transportation survey done earlier this year was the frustration felt by many families over the lack of communication and inability to know where the bus is and when a bus would be late. To help alleviate this concern, beginning this fall the CBE will be introducing new GPS technology to help schools and parents track yellow school buses. Students will also be provided with a new bus pass in September that will help to monitor when students enter and exit the bus. We will be providing more details in mid-September as we roll-out the new system.

Bus Routes available in August

Your child(ren)’s route will be available from their school three days before the start of the 2015-16 school year: August 12 for modified calendar schools and August 27 for traditional calendar schools.

Should you require further information, please contact Transportation Services at transportation@cbe.ab.ca or call at 403-817-7433.
