Ongoing Learning
CBE Technology Lending Program for Students
April 2, 2020
The CBE will have a technology lending program for families that do not have access to a computer or laptop at home. Our schools will prioritize students in the highest grades. Teachers will provide paper learning packages for students that do not receive a computer/laptop as part of this program or do not have internet access at home.
We expect the technology lending program to launch for high school students the week of April 6 and for middle and elementary students the week of April 13. Once it is launched, details on the CBE student technology lending program will be shared through your school or teacher.
Families who do not receive a computer through the CBE’s lending program, may be able to access a computer or laptop device through an existing community program including:
- Electronic Recycling Association’s
Lending a Lifeline by Lending Laptops Program.
- The Government of Canada’s
Connecting Families Initiative. A selection of low-income families have received a letter from the Government of Canada identifying them as eligible. To participate in the Connecting Families initiative, you need to have received a letter in the mail from the Government of Canada.
- There may be other programs through your employer or through organizations you are involved with. Please take advantage of programs that may be available to you to assist your family in acquiring technology.
Families may be able to acquire internet access through the
Telus Internet for Good Program or the Government of Canada’s
Connecting Families Initiative.
