This list includes some of the funding opportunities available to help self-identified​ Indigenous students pursue studies after high school. This is not a complete list.

Click the links for award amounts, eligibility criteria, applications and submission deadlines. Students should declare their Indigenous identity on any awards or scholarship they apply for as many have special considerations for Indigenous students. For help applying, connect with your high school counsellor/guidance office.​

Application deadlines are different. Most deadlines are in the spring but others occur throughout the entire year.

Scholarship for Indigenous students to address the education inequity faced by Indigenous peoples in Alberta by making post-secondary studies more financially accessible.
The Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta offers 2 of these awards to eligible students to support Indigenous youth.
These awards, bursaries and scholarships are given to students who demonstrate leadership capabilities and strive to be role models in their schools and communities.
Calgary Foundation offers 49 different awards and scholarships. This bursary and award are specific to Indigenous students entering the first year of their undergraduate degree.
Cenovus Energy is a Canadian-based energy company headquartered in Calgary. We offer scholarships for Indigenous students residing in Canada near our operating areas who are pursuing a full-time degree, diploma or certified trade.
Eaton Electrical Canada has partnered with Indigenous Clean Energy to offer a scholarship and internship opportunity to Indigenous students striving for a career in electrical work who enjoy traveling.
Award designed to meet the increasing needs of Indigenous students financially to pursue a post-secondary education. Open to Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District students.
The purpose of this award is to encourage First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students, who have demonstrated involvement in their school and Indigenous communities, to pursue post-secondary education.
Post-secondary funding is available for First Nation Students who are ineligible to receive post-secondary funding through their First Nation.
This program provides bursaries, scholarships, and awards for Indigenous students’ post-secondary education in college, university, skilled trades, apprenticeships, and technology programs.
All Mount Royal students can apply for awards listed at mru.ca/awards from Nov. 1 to March 1. Be sure to declare your Indigenous status on the awards application to also be considered for these specific awards.
This program provides funding to reduce the financial burden of a post-secondary education for Métis students.
Various awards available where preference is given to Indigenous students. Chinook Lodge Indigenous Academic Upgrading: Specifically for an Indigenous student who demonstrates financial need, exhibits leadership, and a career plan.
The TC Energy Award offers the Indigenous Legacy Award in support of Indigenous students (First Nation, Métis, Inuit or Non-Status) pursuing any full-time, post-secondary program at a registered education institute.
Seven (7) bursaries for Indigenous students attending post-secondary institutions – college or university. Three (3) bursaries for students training in the trades – technical college or apprenticeship program.
There are several scholarships and awards available for students who are First Nation, Métis, or Inuit people of Canada.
Scholarships for Indigenous students to pursue their Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) or other post-secondary ed in the finance and/or management field and for part-time students working towards a professional designation & working full-time.
