Dual Credit - Anatomy and Physiology

​Anatomy and Physiology (ANPH209) provides an overview of the anatomy and basic physiology of the human body. Areas covered will include the organization of the body; covering, support, and movement of the body; regulation and integration of body functions; maintenance of the body; and continuity of the human race. Diseases and aging processes will also be briefly discussed.

Student ​​Eligibility

Open to CBE high school students who:

  • Are in grades 11 or 12 as of September 2023
  • Have a strong interest to explore a pathway in health sciences
  • Are excited about taking a post-secondary course through an online format

Pre-requisite/Co-requisite requirements:

  • Successful completion of Bio 20​
  • Chem 20 and/or Bio 30 would be an asset
  • Students should be on track to successfully pass the following courses or equivalents with an overall average of at least 60%
    • English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2

Program Delivery and L​​ocation

  • This course is delivered Virtually, fully online and the learning is asynchronous:
    • Students learn on their own schedule, accessing the lectures and reading materials independently, however
    • Students must meet all course assignment, quiz and test deadlines

  • Semester 1 | September to December OR
  • Semester 2 | February to June​
  • Considerations

    • Online asynchronous courses offer students flexibility to complete their learning and course work at times that work for them. However, there are set deadlines and times for quizzes and tests that must be met.
    • Students may need adjustments in their school timetable, depending on the rigor of their online course and the other courses they are taking at their home high school at the same time. Talk to your Off-campus Coordinator about options that may work for you.
    • Students must have space in their life outside of school to complete work for their Dual Credit program in addition to their regular school assignments.
    • Students must submit a personal learning schedule​ with their application, which outlines when they will work on their Dual Credit course work.
    • Students must be registered as a full-time student, taking at least one course at their home high school during the program (work experience excluded).
    • Students will be expected to communicate with both their CBE supervising teacher and course instructor regularly.

  • How to Apply

    1. Read through the course(s) and/or program(s) of interest.
    2. Review program choice with your school Off-campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counsellor for program readiness and timetabling concerns.
    3. You are highly encouraged to attend the Unique Pathways Information Night to ask questions of our program partners and determine if the program is a good fit for you. Connect with your Off-campus Coordinator or Guidance counsellor if you are unable to attend.
    4. Download and fill in the Dual Credit Application Form Package when available.
    5. Refer to the application checklist and ensure all items are complete.
    6. Book an appointment with your Off-campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counselor before the deadline to complete your application, including signatures from all parties.
    7. The school will submit the application to Unique Pathways on your behalf.
