Construction Status

The construction status is updated using the Construction Projects Status Report that is presented monthly to the Board of Trustees.

Project Background

Sept. 2016

• Proposals for Construction Management Services were issued in June and recommendations were made to Alberta Infrastructure in July for appointments to be made.

June 2016

• 90% Design drawings are currently being reviewed and finalized.

Apr. 2016

• A design Development Report has been prepared. Working drawings are being prepared for a Summer tender.

March 2016

• A design Development Report is being prepared.

February 2016

• Design Team has commenced detailed assessment of the school and has developed conceptual schematic layouts of the required programme spaces.

January 2016

• Steering Committee Meetings have commenced.

December 2015 

• Riddell Kurczaba Architects have been appointed to lead the Design Team. Steering Committee Meetings have been set-up.

September 2015

• An RFP for Design Services and Design Consultants has been prepared and is to be issued to the marketplace. Appointments are expected to be made in September.

• The CBE will oversee the modernization
• Onsite inspections and program assessements are being undertaken with the Province to determine an agreed scope of work, prior to the appointment of Consultants.

School Community

Lord Beaverbrook High School is located in the southeast community of Acadia.

The school serves the communities of Acadia, Copperfield, Cranston, Deer Ridge, Deer Run, Diamond Cove, Douglasdale/Glen, Fairview, Maple Ridge, McKenzie Lake, McKenzie Towne, New Brighton, Parkland, Queensland, and Willow Park.

School Facility

Lord Beaverbrook High School opened in 1968.

Project Background

• On March 31, 2015 - the Province committed to fully funding the modernization.
• On Oct. 8, 2014 – the Province committed to the immediate planning and development of design scope of the high school modernization.
• 2010 – Lord Beaverbrook High School was identified as a priority for modernization on the CBE Three-Year Capital Plan.
