Five New Pilot Sites

​Library School

At Library School students and teachers are invited to shape their experience around a central inquiry that is purposeful and meaningful. Whether at the automated handling machine, behind-the-scenes in Collections, in the Make It Messy studio, the AV media labs or the theatre, Library School students will be invited to meet library staff, practicing artists, authors-in-residence and others learning from them while they work.

​SEEDschool

A week at The Mustard Seed will engage students in hands-on learning about poverty, homelessness and social issues, thereby challenging students to consider their role in engaging in community.

With its rich history and diverse surrounding community, The Mustard Seed has the potential to move the current CC/OM model to the next level of excellence in teaching and learning in the Calgary beltline. Teachers and students will be immersed in workshops, experiential learning, and service-learning. These experiences will develop and build capacity for critical understandings of our interconnected Calgary-community.

Tinker School

A week at Tinker School will enable students to increase their skills using new technology like coding and robotics, while fostering critical thinking and creative problem solving skills. As society shifts towards rapid uptake of new technologies, Tinker School has the potential to move the current CC/OM model to the next level of excellence in teaching and learning in our innovative setting. Teachers and students will be immersed in science, technology, engineering and math to innovate and solve different challenges. These experiences will develop and build capacity for the future as students gain critical skills in the STEM fields.

Social Enterprise School

A week at Social Enterprise School will allow students to observe and interact with entrepreneurs who are starting businesses and technology experts who are collaborating on society’s most pressing problems.  A dynamic innovative community, surrounding community partners, and dedicated staff provide potential learning opportunities related to how:

to use the Design Thinking process to address human needs

to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset

to pitch an innovative idea to stakeholders

to use the Lean Startup methodology to develop a social enterprise business solution

​Strong Kids School

A week at Gray Family Eau Claire YMCA Strong Kids School, offers unique possibilities to engage students in healthy lifestyles, philanthropic endeavors, the legacy of family giving, and the four YMCA core values of respect, honesty, responsibility and caring.

Gray Family YMCA Strong Kids School has access to a wide range of experts, including fitness experts, marketing and strategic planning experts, volunteers, corporate Calgary, building and structural engineers/maintenance personal, and many more. These experts will help site coordinators and teachers personalize their learning and bring the subject matter to life.
