Supporting CBE's Growing Student Population and Addressing Enrolment Pressures

Alberta Government Announces Increased Funding and Modular Classrooms for CBE Schools

On July 23, 2024, the Alberta government announced additional funding to support growing student population and increasing costs. School boards across the province will receive a share of the $125-million increase for operational funding.

As we prepare to welcome another 8,000 students for the 2024-2025 school year, this increased funding will be used to support teaching and learning in the classroom. In addition to this funding, CBE will receive up to 31 new modular classrooms and have up to 14 relocated to address enrolment pressures, particularly in schools that have experienced significant growth in the past few years.

“We are grateful to receive additional funding and modular classrooms from the Government of Alberta," says Patricia Bolger, chair of the Board of Trustees. Escalating enrolment means more CBE schools are full. More than 150 out of 251 schools are at or over capacity. These new learning spaces mean more students can attend a school close to home."

We look forward to receiving more details about this additional funding and new modular classrooms in the coming weeks. Read more about the government announcement.
