What to Expect 

Yellow bus service is introduced once streets are safe, clear of obstructions (construction supplies and equipment) and roads are maintained by the City — allowing the yellow bus to enter and turn around safely within the community. 

When yellow bus service is not available: 

• Regular program bus stops may be located in nearby communities. 
• Alternative program bus stops are grouped together at central locations, following a “congregated stop model.” As conditions improve, service options may be adjusted to better reflect the needs of the community.

Calgary Transit 

Calgary Transit provides service to new or emerging communities when they meet specific infrastructure guidelines. Until then, students may use Calgary Transit from nearby communities — if available. 

Otherwise, yellow school bus service may be added to a new or emerging community if: 

• No yellow bus service exists in a nearby community, and 
• It is deemed safe to operate in the new area. 

CBE Transportation Services regularly monitors road conditions and construction progress. Bus stop locations may change during the school year to reflect improvements in safety and access.
