This Summer School course is available for current CBE high school students only.
Prerequisite: Minimum 50% in English Language Arts 10-1.
Expectations
Attendance/Engagement
Due to the accelerated pace of summer school courses, by the mid-point in July there is limited time to complete course requirements. Students who have not meaningfully engaged in the course may no longer be in a position to successfully demonstrate learning course outcomes in the remaining time. At this point, attendance/engagement will be reviewed, and students may be considered for withdrawal.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity and academic honesty are important parts of the climate of integrity and fairness that exists at Summer School. Registration
Closed
Families who have submitted a Summer School course request through their high school counsellor or junior high school administrator will have been notified by email the week of June 1 - 5, 2026 as to whether or not they have been registered. Ensure you are checking your junk/spam folder as well as your inbox for these notifications.
We have no capacity to register non-CBE students. Go to Alberta Online Learning for other online summer school options.
In-Person Learning
Chinook Learning Services offers in-person Summer School classes at multiple locations throughout the city.
Each day of summer instruction is the equivalent of one week of a semestered high school program. Due to the already abbreviated nature of the term, no provision will be made for missed classes, or the late start or early release of students. You are expected to attend every class as scheduled and to be present to write the final examination. Final examinations cannot be rescheduled.
Online Learning
CBe-learn offers various opportunities to complete individual courses and upgrading, both during Summer School.

Technology Requirements
Students will need a dedicated laptop or desktop computer to complete their online course. A smartphone is not sufficient to access the tools needed to complete the course. The computer should have a working microphone and camera for any online meetings with the teacher. The CBE cannot guarantee access to D2L if students leave the country. Students should plan on staying within Canada for the duration of their online course
