This program bundles two courses together, both of which are required courses for SAIT’s Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) Technology Diploma.

Aircraft Systems I ( ASYS245 ) introduces basic aerodynamics as it pertains to fixed-wing aircraft, beginning with the control, stability and performance of aircraft in flight. Students will design and build a section of wing and test their work in a wind tunnel, defining the effects of lift and drag. Students will also learn about aviation fuels, the basics of aircraft landing gear design and aircraft door and window systems.
In Introduction to Canadian Aviation Regulatory Requirements ( AREG250 ), students will explore the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), which are the regulations and standards for the aircraft industry in Canada. An understanding of these regulations and how to use them in the workplace is essential to becoming a licensed AME.

Eligibility
Open to CBE high school students who:
- Are in grades 11 or 12 during the program
- Interested in exploring a pathway leading to Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Technology
- On track to successfully pass
- Math 30-1 or Math 30-2
- English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2
- Students must complete these courses within two weeks of being accepted into the program:
- HCS 3000 | HCS 3010 | CSTS 2020

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Note: Attendance is closely monitored in this program due to Transport Canada guidelines
Timetable Requirements
Students must have no afternoon classes in their timetable at their home high school to accommodate this program.
Workload
Students can expect a total of 9 synchronous hours per week (in person) and approximately 3-5 hours of additional independent work per week for a total of 12-15 hours per week.

5-10 Credits, 30 level CTS and 4.5 post-secondary credits
Considerations
- Students must have space in their full-year timetable to accommodate the program delivery, location, and dates.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the program location. Support may be available – reach out to your Off-Campus Coordinator, guidance counsellor or email uniquepathways@cbe.ab.ca if you require support.
- Students are expected to attend every day and meet all safety and behavioural expectations of the program partner site. Failure to do so may result in removal from the program.
- Students must meet all course assignments, quizzes, and test deadlines.
- Students must submit a personal learning schedule with their application, which outlines when they will work on their Dual Credit coursework outside of class time.
- Students must be registered as a full-time student, taking at least one course at their home high school during the program (work experience excluded).
- Students will be expected to communicate regularly with both their CBE supervising teacher and their course instructor.

- Review program choice with your school Off-Campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counsellor for program readiness and timetabling concerns.
- You are highly encouraged to attend the Unique Pathways Information Night to ask questions of our program partners and determine if the program is a good fit for you. Connect with your Off-Campus Coordinator or Guidance counsellor if you are unable to attend.
- Download and fill in the Dual Credit Application Form Package when available.
- Refer to the application checklist and ensure all items are complete.
- Book an appointment with your Off-Campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counsellor before the deadline to complete your application, including signatures from all parties.
- The school will submit the application to Unique Pathways on your behalf.
