The Land Use Amendment application was unanimously adopted by City Council on October 4, 2016.
October 2016
On September 16, 2016, a follow up to the June 2015 charette with Arts stakeholders was held to discuss Chinook Learning Services and arts programming needs. Participants included representatives from Calgary Arts Development, ACAD, Junior Achievement, Youth Arts Programs, Alberta Films and University of Calgary.
September 2016
The Land Use Amendment application was approved by the Calgary Planning Commission on August 11, 2016. It must now be ratified by City Council on October 8, 2016.
April 2016
An Open House and Public Information Session was hosted at Fort Calgary on March 30, 2016 for East Village residents and neighbours to outline the Land Use Amendment application to the City of Calgary.
December 2015
The preparation of the Developer RFP has been suspended until the land use re-designation has been approved by the City.
A draft vision statement has been prepared by Learning Services. The Land Use Re-designation Application is being prepared for submission to the City.
An educational program charrette was held in June 2015 to determine the functional program needs and requirements.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) proposal call was issued to developers in January 2015. Following the review of EOI submissions, four developers will be invited to submit RFPs in Summer 2015.
Booth Centre modernization for Chinook Learning Services central location was approved for provincial funding on July 7, 2012. Prime Consultants were appointed through a request for proposal process on July 23, 2012. Alberta Infrastructure has provided technical documentation on the existing facility. Schematic design and functional space layouts have been finalized. Different concepts are being assessed for the potential redevelopment of the site with the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation and developers. Discussions are ongoing.
A project completion date is TBD.
