Chinook Learning Services is the Calgary Board of Education's provider of High School Upgrading, Adult English Language Learning and non-credit Continuing Education (professional development, personal development & corporate training).
Changes to Programming and Locations | 2018-19
Chinook Learning Services has moved high school upgrading programming to Lord Beaverbrook High School and James Fowler High School. English as a Second Language programming is now at Forest Lawn High School, while administration, student registration and continuing education have moved to Lord Shaughnessy High School. High School Upgrading
Chinook is the largest High School Upgrading centre in Alberta, serving almost 10,000 part-time students annually. Students come to Chinook to complete, upgrade or enhance their high school diplomas as they prepare to enter post-secondary institutions or the world of work. Chinook offers morning, afternoon and evening classes, multiple intakes, and specialized programs to allow students great flexibility in achieving their goals.
Adult English Language Learning (ELL)
Chinook is one of Calgary’s major providers of Adult ELL
, providing a key stepping stone to success for new Calgarians:
- English as a Second Language
- LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada)
