In this session, we'll explore making math vocabulary conceptually meaningful. Using word morphology strategies, students can move beyond rote memorization to enhance understanding. For example, 'coefficient' becomes less intimidating when we know 'co' means together and 'efficient' refers to productivity. The coefficient works efficiently with the variable to find solutions. Analogies and similes can also enhance student understanding.

Join us for a session designed for Mandarin teachers to collaborate, build connections, and share resources. Using the CBE’s K-9 Calibration Protocol, teachers will engage in professional dialogue to deepen their understanding of Mandarin writing. Led by a facilitator, teachers will assess student writing samples. To enhance this process, teachers are encouraged to bring Mandarin student writing samples to share. There will be time for collaboration with grade teams, connecting with colleagues, and exchanging insights on school and grade activities and resources. This will foster idea-sharing, strengthen collaboration, and create a supportive community for Mandarin teachers.
