Our schools are closed after June 30 for the summer. For any new registrations, if the student is a Canadian citizen, please register with your designated school when it re-opens in August. Check the school's website for their back-to-school information. If the student is not a Canadian citizen, please contact
CBE’s Welcome Centre, which is open for most of the summer.
Information for Parents Registering Their First Child in School
Registration at schools in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is not determined on a first come, first served basis. Registration and admission to schools in CBE are governed by the
Education Act and Administrative Regulation 6090 | Child and Student Registration and Admission.
You have the option to register your child in their designated regular program school or, space permitting, designated alternative program school.
alternative program is a program that:
- emphasizes a particular language, culture or subject matter; or
- uses a particular teaching philosophy.
All other programs fall under the
regular program umbrella.
Designated Regular or Designated Alternative Program School
All students are designated to schools based on their home address and the requested program (e.g., Regular, French Immersion, TLC). Follow the steps below to locate the designated CBE school in
Find a School:
- In the
Search by Address box, enter your home address.
- In the
View Program Options, select:
Filter by Grade Level, check the box next to the grade you are registering your child.
The school where you register for your designated program is listed in the
Search Results section.
Regular, if your program choice is the regular program.
More Programs, if your program choice is an alternative program, then select the desired alternative program from the list.
To register and pay fees, you will need a
MyCBE account. Once you submit a completed registration (including your email address) and all required documentation, the school will process your registration form, then assign and provide you with your child's CBE Student ID.
To create an account, you will need the email address you provided on the registration form and your child's CBE Student ID and date of birth. Refer to the instructions in our Technical Support for Students & Parents: Creating a Parent Account.
