The Board of Trustees has appointed Gary Strother as the acting chief superintendent as of Aug. 25, 2023. He is expected to act in this role until early 2024, while the Board conducts a nation-wide search for a permanent chief superintendent.

What We Do
As an elected Board, our job is to govern the CBE, one of the best education systems in the world. It’s also our job to advocate on behalf of all CBE students.
This year, we will be raising awareness about the impacts of increased enrolment on schools across the city.

New K-6 Curriculum Underway
In Alberta, the curriculum is determined by Alberta Education. It identifies what students are expected to learn and do in all subjects from kindergarten to Grade 12.
This year, we are implementing new curriculum in K–3 French Immersion Language Arts and Literature, K–3 Science, 4–6 English Language Arts and Literature and 4–6 Mathematics.

Mark your Calendar for Oct. 26
The first COSC meeting of the year is Thursday, Oct. 26. This meeting will be held online, and invitations will be emailed to you about three weeks in advance.

ASCA Calendar Of Events
The ASCA website offers a calendar of events including a variety of participation opportunities for school council members and/or parents. These include:
- Workshops for school councils
- Online sessions for parents regarding various health and educational issues
- Event information for “special dates”.
