As we enter cold and flu season, it’s important for families to keep kids home if they are feeling unwell.

Learning is Happening Everywhere

Chris UsifSince joining the CBE four years ago, I have visited more than 140 schools. Being in schools enables me to observe effective instructional practices and the positive impact these practices have on student success. What strikes me most is students are continuing to learn, and learning is happening in and outside thousands of classrooms, on field trips and in communities across Calgary.

It is a great responsibility to deliver education to more than 130,000 students across the city and I thank you for entrusting your child’s education to the CBE.

I invite you to check out the rest of our website for the most up-to-date information, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning, please connect with your school.

Families are reminded that extra caution should be taken during the winter months getting to and from school. CBE schools rarely close due to snow or cold temperatures. All children should be well prepared and dressed for the weather. Families should also ensure that they have back-up care arrangements if transportation is delayed.
