A number of public transportation options are available in the vicinity. Both the Red and Blue C-Train lines stop at 4th St/6th Street Stations in downtown Calgary are approximately a 1 km walk from Western Canada High School. The #3 bus, running north/south on Centre St N and Elbow Drive S, also stops only a few blocks away from Western Canada High School.
If you choose to drive to Symposium, please consider carpooling from your school with colleagues or otherwise arrange to minimize the number of vehicles coming to the school area.
For participants who choose to cycle to the Symposium, a secure bicycle lot is available in the courtyard at Western Canada High School. Please wheel your bike into the school and follow posted directions to the bike lot.
Parking
Presenters and Organizers
Presenters and Organizers will be offered a parking spot in the gated lots at Western Canada High School. Be on the lookout for an email to request your spot. Instructions, including a specific lot assignment, will be sent via email a few days before the Symposium.
Members of the New Language Teacher Community of Practice
Members of the NLT COP who have signed up for the NLT event will be emailed specific parking instructions.

Parking at Western Canada High School will be extremely limited on April 19, 2024.
Participants are asked to carefully consider their transportation and parking options prior to the Symposium.
The Western Canada High School Vicinity
An extremely number of spots will be available in the student parking lot at Western Canada High School. CBE has obtained a parking regulations ‘relaxation’ from the City of Calgary for time-limited street parking zones in the immediate vicinity around Western Canada, south of 17th Ave. It is estimated that approximately 100 parking spots are included in the relaxed area. However, for most participants, parking at the school will not be an option.
Crescent Heights High School Parking Lot
Symposium organizers have arranged to make parking available in the student lot at Crescent Heights High School (1019 1 St NW), with a free bus service directly to and from Western Canada High School before and after the Symposium.
Two buses will be available, and will depart from Crescent Heights High School at 8:20 AM.
The student lot is located on the northwest section of the school and accessible from 11th Ave NW, near the corner of 2nd St NW. Please do not park in other lots, as these are reserved for Crescent Heights staff.
After the Symposium, buses will leave from Western Canada to return to Crescent Heights at 2:30 PM.
Commercial Lots Near Western Canada High School
A number of City of Calgary and private commercial lots are available within walking distance of Western Canada High School. Participants may elect to pay the daily fee to park their vehicle in these lots. A list of compiled lots follows at the bottom of this page. Please keep in mind that locations close to the school are likely to be appealing to many other Symposium participants as well, and plan accordingly.
