English as Additional Language Learners
About one-quarter of our students are identified as English as Additional Language Learners (EAL). Our schools offer many different kinds of programming and supports to assist learners to develop English skills while also advancing academically.
L.E.A.D. (Literacy, English and Academic Development) program
We offer specialized programming for English as Additional Language Learners who face additional challenges as a result of the circumstances of their migration (often from war-torn regions) and their lack of opportunity for prior schooling.
This program is in nine locations and offers intensive language instruction and support.
Additional Supports
Programming for English as Additional Language Learners is based on their ESL coding and their language assessment which results in a benchmark level.
