Proposed Move of Louise Dean Centre to Jack James High School

The Calgary Board of Education is committed to providing programming tailored to the needs of all students facing a variety of life situations, including pregnant and parenting teens. At the heart of student programming is the ability to allow students to successfully complete high school through a flexible approach that honours individual strengths and removes barriers to learning. As a demonstration of that commitment, we have been exploring ways to continue offering Louise Dean Centre programming, in collaboration with our partners (Kindred/Catholic Family Service and Alberta Health Services), at another facility.  ​Read more >>​

​2023-24 Discovering Choices Program Moves 

​​​​CBE Administration will be submitting a report to the Board of Trustees in April 2022 that recommends moving the current Discovering Choices Bowness program to Robert Thirsk High School and the Discovering Choices Westbrook program to Alternative High School. The new locations were chosen considering proximity to the existing sites/access for students, available space at CBE high schools and access to enhanced learning opportunities. Read more >>​

Shaping the Future of High School​

In May 2019, the CBE launched a community engagement initiative to develop a sustainable plan that balances enrolment across CBE high schools and gives students access, flexibility and choice in programming.​ The decision was shared June 30, 2021. Read more >>​​​
