Cynthia Cordova serves as a Trustee at the Calgary Board of Education, representing Wards 5 and 10 - encompassing all communities north of Memorial Drive and east of Deerfoot Trail. She is committed to equity, inclusion, and student success, with a strong commitment to student centered governance. Guided by the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, Cynthia works to ensure the Board’s decisions reflect the diverse voices and needs of the community.
Cynthia brings lived experiences in educational leadership roles such as Past Chair, Chair, and Vice-Chair of a large Ontario School Board. She championed multi-stakeholder engagements and policies that support student wellbeing and advanced student voices at the board table. Her background also includes leadership and involvement in multiple leadership Boards and several nonprofit and youth organizations, as well as work in the mental health, homelessness and emergency services sectors.
Cynthia believes that strong public education is the foundation of thriving communities. As a Trustee, she is committed to listening to constituents, student voices, championing innovative solutions and keeping students at the heart of every decision.
Grounded by her love for family and community, Cynthia draws strength and inspiration from her loved ones, who keep her values rooted in empathy and service. Outside of her public work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, exploring nature, the arts and paddle boarding.
