​The Calgary Board of Education Board of Trustees is seeking volunteers for its Trustee Remuneration Committee.

The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is the largest school board in Western Canada, serving approximately 124,000 students. It has an operating budget of nearly 1.3 billion dollars. The Trustee Remuneration Committee reports to the Board of Trustees and is comprised of two elected trustees and at least three volunteer individuals external to the Calgary Board of Education.

The primary role of the committee is to assist the Board of Trustees in determine trustee remuneration levels, taking into consideration budgetary, economic and other relevant factors.

Volunteers serve on the Committee for three years and attend approximately one meeting per year in March. The role also involves reviewing public sector compensation documents in advance of meetings. The ideal candidate will have a background in Human Resources or Business, have competencies in the areas of:

  • Board compensation experience
  • Orientation and education programs for Board members
  • Board governance experience, and
  • Public Sector/Not for Profit experience

The candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong connection to public education in our city.  Serving on the committee will allow you to gain valuable experience in Board compensation oversight.
