In Physical Education, students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Physical Education provides equitable opportunities for all students to realize the benefits of participation in physical activity.
From kindergarten to Grade 12, students experience a variety of activities in school and in the community. In keeping with their individual abilities and gifts, students explore their physical abilities and improve their fitness levels. They develop an understanding that fitness impacts well-being and body image. Students develop a sense of fair play and exercise their leadership abilities. They discover the importance of safe, active living for life, set goals and challenge themselves to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
Physical activity supports academic performance in all areas of learning. Physical education is a source of fun and enjoyment and promotes values such as fair play, equality, excellence, commitment, courage, teamwork and respect for self and others.
In Physical Education, students are provided with opportunities to develop the competencies required of engaged thinkers and ethical citizens with an entrepreneurial spirit.
