CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education is honoured to recognize the Calgary Police Service Youth Education Unit with a Lighthouse Award. The award will be presented at the Public Board Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.
The award recognizes the CPS Youth Education Unit for their support of students from kindergarten to grade twelve through the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program and other initiatives. Over the past 40 years, this partnership has been invaluable in building strong relationships between police officers and students, creating safer communities and preparing students to make positive choices in their lives.
The SRO program has been active in CBE Schools since the first SRO was assigned in 1974 and it is our pleasure to recognize their enduring work with our students over all these years.
The CBE’s Lighthouse Awards program recognizes an organization’s contributions to the CBE, its schools and its programs.
Media are invited to the award presentation.
