On Feb. 28, the Government of Alberta announced the
2023 provincial budget. The budget provides all school boards with preliminary funding information for the next school year, and it includes an increase in total education funding across the province.
Further information about educational funding in Budget 2023 is included in
a letter the Minister of Education, Adriana LaGrange, asked us to share with you.
Once we receive our individual funding amount from Alberta Education in the coming weeks, we will have a better understanding of what the provincial budget means for CBE students.
The CBE will submit a balanced budget focused on our Board priorities of student achievement, equity and student and staff well-being to Alberta Education by May 31 in keeping with the requirements of the Education Act.
The CBE is the largest school board in the province, providing a world-class education to 131,000+ students in Calgary. We maximize dollars to the classroom including offering choice in programming and unmatched supports to ensure success for each student. An increased investment in CBE ensures that Alberta’s youth are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and contribute to a strong and prosperous Alberta.
The CBE’s 2023-24 budget is currently being developed and information will be posted on the
CBE’s budget page as it becomes available.
