Several hundred students, staff and family members gathered at New Brighton School on December 7 for a memorable Warm Feet for the Street family evening. With the leadership of Grade 2 students and the support of School Council the New Brighton School community began gathering donations for the Mustard Seed in late November. The community gathered together in the evening and each family stuffed a sock with essentials and wrote a card to go with the cozy pair of new socks and small personal care items.
A Grade 4 Knitting Club also began their work to knit handmade scarves to be donated. The knitters were all new to the craft but showed persistence and dedication in learning new skill. The occasional visit from the Knitting Fairy helped keep everyone on track.
Dozens and dozens of stuffed socks and scarves will be delivered to the Mustard Seed before the holidays. The Mustard Seed helps build hope and New Brighton School was fortunate to be able to help build hope too.
