Martin Poirier, Principal, Western Canada High School, and Guilaume LarocheThe Willis S. McLeese Award is named in recognition of the immense contribution Mr. McLeese has made to Canadian debating. The award is presented annually by the Canadian Student Debate Federation to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to debate. The 2017 recipient is Guilaume Laroche, teacher at
Western Canada High School. The award was given for his contribution to debate in Alberta and to French Debate across the nation. Western Canada High School now has three recipients of this Award in its faculty; Jason Hong, 2011 and Martin Poirier, 2006.
