World Teachers' Day | October 5, 2021

Oct. 05, 2021

A message from the Chief Superintendent of Schools

As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day this year, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the resilience of our teachers and all education workers during the global pandemic. I am grateful for the work you do each day to support our students and families in these challenging times. You are valued and very much appreciated.

There is significant change in the world of education, but one thing remains constant — relationships matter. Kindness, empathy, inclusion, respect for diversity, integrity, and character are important traits that bind a caring community. Each day, in classrooms across the CBE, you demonstrate your commitment to these important values through your words and action.

Today, on World Teachers’ Day, I salute you for making a difference! You continue to demonstrate compassion and courage in the face of an evolving set of challenges, ensuring that our students can thrive in and outside of the classroom.

Thank you.

The theme of 2021 World Teachers’ Day is: “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.” Teachers — and those who support them — are at the heart of so much more than that. You are not only the heart and lifeblood of our entire school system, but our society as a whole.

Please accept my best wishes on this day.

Sincerely,

Christopher Usih, Chief Superintendent of Schools, Calgary Board of Education
