Unique Pathways & Off-campus Education Dual Credit - ICT Interactive Design

Dual Credit - ICT Interactive Design

The ICT Interactive Design program bundles two courses, Introduction to Visual Design (DSGN228) and Digital Media Foundations (MMDA202) together to provide an introductory understanding of how technology and creativity can intertwine to create solutions to real-world problems with digital design.

DSGN228 is an introductory course covering design theory, the production of media, and the use of production hardware and software tools. Learners will become familiar with bitmap and vector graphics, digital photography, typography and print media tools and techniques. MMDA202 will allow students to Explore basic animation theory, motion graphics, and audio and video concepts. Students will use basic programming scripts to develop basic interactive presentations.

Both courses are from SAIT’s new Interactive Design Diploma program, and are common first year courses in all three majors, including: Web Design and Development, User Experience (UX) and Web Design and Development.

Potential careers stemming from these courses include:

  • Web Design – creating the aesthetics of a website
  • Web Development – coding to build and maintain websites
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) – addressing the functionality of a website from the user perspective
