High School Transfer Process and Request Form

Feb. 18, 2021

Dear Grade 9 parents/guardians,

Current Grade 9 students are automatically registered for the 2021-2022 school year at their designated high school, based on their home address on file with the CBE. For those students who are currently in French Immersion, Spanish Bilingual or Arts-Centred Learning, they will be registered in their designated high school for that program, unless you contact your current middle/junior high school by March 15, 2021, to request a regular program designation for next year.

If a student is interested in attending a high school other than their designated school, you can request a transfer. We have launched a new high school transfer process to help ensure a clear, consistent and equitable process for all students and high schools. We want students to have access to the programming and courses they desire, while we need to balance enrolment across our schools.

High school transfer requests must be submitted by March 15, 2021, to be considered for the 2021-2022 school year. You may request a transfer for one of the following reasons:

  • To enroll in an education program not offered at the designated school (e.g. International Baccalaureate Programme and Advanced Placement); or
  • To take a sequence of courses up to the 30 level that is not offered at the designated school (e.g. cosmetology, welding and fabrication, culinary arts and auto mechanics).

For full information and to access the transfer request form, please visit our Transferring Between CBE Schools webpage.

For students who are interested in pursuing online programming for Grade 10 through CBe-learn, the registration process is being finalized and information will be available soon.
