Summer Update for Families | June 15, 2022

Jun. 15, 2022

With the end of the school year quickly approaching, I wanted to take some time to pause and thank all CBE students, staff and families for their flexibility and support. I’m incredibly proud of the work we do each day across all CBE schools and service units to support student learning. In a year still very much impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were grateful for fewer transitions to online learning and the return to welcoming families into our schools. It has been a joy to once again have in-person graduations, sporting events, performances and concerts to celebrate student learning and accomplishments.

To graduating students and those moving on from the CBE, we wish you all the best on the next steps of your learning journey.

As we head into the last few days of the school year, please take a moment to review the following updates and reminders before schools close for a well-earned summer break.

Chief Superintendent of Schools

Reminders

COVID-19 Health Measures

On June 14, the provincial government lifted all remaining mandatory public health restrictions. Information will be updated on our website in the coming days.

Technology Clean-up

Students who are leaving the CBE (graduating or moving) are reminded to prepare to permanently lose access to their files in CBE tools, such as: Google Workspace, Gmail, Google Classroom, Iris, and Brightspace, as these tools are provided for classroom learning only.

By June 30, students must take copies of the information they need before they leave the CBE. Students not registered as returning to CBE in the fall will have their account deactivated and their data deleted this summer. Students cannot be granted access to their account after they have left the CBE.

For more information, please visit Technical Support for Students and Parents.

Online Report Cards

Families will be able to view online student report cards for all K-12 students from June 28 to July 28, 2022.

Parents and Guardians can log in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE Portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Need help?

ID Numbers

Your child’s CBE ID Number is required to register for a MyCBE Account. This number can be found on your child’s CBE ID card or on their report card. If you do not have a MyCBE account and do not know your child’s CBE ID number, contact your child’s school before the end of the school year.

Check for Outstanding Fees

Parents are encouraged to check their MyCBE account for any fees that may be still outstanding for the school year. All payments should be received by June 30. CBE has a waiver process for families who can’t afford to pay the fees. Waiver applications for the 2021-22 school year must be completed by June 30.

Looking Ahead to the 2022-23 School Year

Back to School

  • Modified calendar schools offices open on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and the first day of classes is Monday, Aug. 15.
  • Traditional calendar schools offices open on Monday, Aug. 29 and the first day of classes is Thursday, Sept. 1.

Check your school website for other back to school information. Information will be posted once staff return to schools.

School Bus Transportation

CBE Transportation continues to accept registration after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume. Families are responsible for transportation until their registration is confirmed.
