CBE Student Honoured with Alberta School Boards Association Award

Grade 6 student Emerson Moroz was selected from 230 nominees as a recipient of the 2024 Honouring Spirit: Indigenous Student Award in the Grades 4-6 category. The annual award from the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) celebrates exceptional students nominated by members of their education communities, based on exemplary leadership, courage and dedication to their cultures and educational journeys.
Emerson, from Catherine Nichols Gunn School, is touted as a ‘kind-hearted individual who creates a welcoming and supportive environment with her peers” and encourages them to be their best selves. She is a proud Saulteaux Cree who enjoys sharing her learnings and welcomes friends to join in cultural smudges and traditions. Emerson also runs the Tech committee at school and embodies confidence and patience showing everyone how to embrace their unique gifts while honouring the gifts of others.
