CALGARY, AB — Media are invited to the 10th annual Calgary High School Welding Rodeo, a welding and metal fabrication skills competition that showcases students' technical, problem-solving and leadership abilities. Students from seven school districts will participate in a series of timed challenges designed to test the necessary skills for success in technology and trade occupations.
This year's event theme is “Western" and will bring us back to our roots of a rodeo. The event encourages students to participate in a fun and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, teamwork and safety. Students will complete a fabrication project, a western stagecoach from drawings, fabricate a western theme sculpture from scrap metal and have the option to complete a mock CWB 1GF weld test.
Students and instructors/teachers from each of the seven school districts will be available for photos and interviews, as well as special guests Kayla Vander Molen, instructor, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Louise Charron, Fund and Partner Development
Manager, CWB Foundation.
