CALGARY —Grade 8 students at Queen Elizabeth High School are learning about poverty and hunger in a unique way. They have been selling raffle tickets and accepting donations from Grade 7-9 students as part of a fundraiser called “Feast or Famine - Know Hunger.” The event is part of an initiative to raise awareness around poverty and hunger issues worldwide, and to give back to the community.

On Jan. 23, all Grade 7-9 students will attend an assembly in hopes of winning a
“feast” consisting of food donated by local restaurants. Parents will serve the feast to the winning students. Other students will participate in games and activities which focus on world hunger. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to The Mustard Seed. Media are invited to the celebration and assembly and to speak with students and teachers about the Feast or Famine initiative.
