CALGARY — National Bullying Awareness Week (Nov. 16-22) provides the Calgary Board of Education with an opportunity to shine a light on what our schools are doing every day to help students stand up to bullying if and when it occurs. However, paying attention to whole school wellness is not a one-week or a one-time approach. It is an ongoing commitment to creating environments where everyone is welcome and feels respected and safe.

As part of that ongoing commitment, many CBE schools are involved in a variety of activities during Bullying Awareness Week. Sherwood School is one of those schools. The school is providing students with an opportunity to learn more about cyberbullying on Nov. 17. A representative from the Calgary Police Service will be speaking to students about what cyberbullying is, unsafe sites on the Internet, strategies to deal with bullying and more.

Media are invited to join students and staff for this important assembly.
