Radisson Park School Celebrates the Team Giordano Points for the Future Initiative with Flames Captain  Mark Giordano and Wife Lauren

On February 17th, a sea of red at Radisson Park School welcomed Calgary Flames Captain, Mark Giordano and wife Lauren Giordano in celebration of Team Giordano Points for the Future. This celebration at Radisson Park School is the first that will be taking place in three CBE schools. This initiative started through a generous donation from the Giordanos not only covers the importance of goal setting to achieve dreams, but also encompasses other areas of Comprehensive School Health such as, physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, student leadership, and positive behaviors which relate to academic success.

Some of the amazing benefits from this initiative include:

  • Team Giordano T-shirts and journals for student and staff for setting goals and connecting to classroom learning, provided by Supreme Basics
  • Creation of  two different wellness/quiet calming spaces in the school- partially supported by Varsity Chrysler
  • Over 200 hockey tickets per school for students and their families, provided by ATB  to the “Giordanos”
  • A double class set of floor hockey equipment including: team jerseys, sticks, balls, and full goalie equipment
  • Authentic field trip opportunities for the whole school
  • Whole school Dance Residency for all grades culminating in a school performance
  • Support for all 3 schools to participate in a field trip to the Saddledome to watch a Flames practice, to talk with Mark and Lauren Giordano about the initiative and be served up a delicious healthy lunch for 1300 people
  • Monies for each school to spend around specific Comprehensive School Health needs

“This donation has afforded Radisson Park School equity of opportunity by supporting individual students and families, groups of students and whole school initiatives. It has our school focused on creating and achieving goals and we are very excited about being a part of an initiative that is so inspiring.”
Tracy Drefko, Principal at Radisson Park School
