The Calgary Board of Education is proud to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada during Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary, and all year long.
Aboriginal Awareness Week (June 21-25) and National Aboriginal Day (June 21) provide us with a special opportunity to shine a spotlight on how we work together with our Aboriginal students and their families to ensure student success. Our Aboriginal education learning leaders, advisors, and specialists work with schools, the CBE Aboriginal Elders Advisory Council and outside organizations throughout the year to make this happen, and we are committed to continuing to build on this important work.
In this section, you will find stories that showcase some of the activities that have been taking place across the CBE this year to celebrate the successes of Aboriginal students and increase awareness of Aboriginal cultures, perspectives and traditions.
We hope you will also participate in some of the exciting events taking place across our city to celebrate this week. Visit the Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary website for more information.
